This would be every investor’s dream – 10,000% interest. Banks do not advertise more than a small percentage in the low single digits. Not worth it.

In contrast, the Lord Jesus shows us what an investment in the “heavenly bank” entails: “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life” (Mark 10:29, 30). A hundredfold! That’s a whopping 10,000%. Nobody can compete with that!

He promises us a reward both on earth and – this is the crucial point for us – in the age to come. He will reward us a hundredfold for every sacrifice we make for Him (that is what these verses are about). This perspective can help us in situations where we are reluctant to invest more of our time, our life goals, our money, our well-earned weekends, etc. in the Lord and His cause. “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love” (Heb 6:10).
