What Christ paid for us
The leaders of the people gave Judas Iscariot 30 pieces of silver so that he would deliver Jesus without a crowd. This was the “glorious price” that the shepherd of Israel was worth for his faithful service, as the prophet Zechariah explains (chapter 11:12, 13). Only 30 pieces of silver were paid for the infinitely valuable person of Christ and for his invaluable service!
Let us compare this with the price that the Lord Jesus was prepared to pay for us: He gave His precious life as a ransom for lost sinners (Mark 10:45)! He paid an infinitely high price for those who had not served God.
We, humans, gave a pitiful sum for Christ, expressing our contempt. But He paid the highest price for us, thereby revealing His love. Therefore, as the redeemed, we should now glorify God in our bodies (1 Cor. 6:20)!
