Being Anxious for Nothing
Philippians 4:6,7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.“
Worries are at home everywhere. There is no continent, no country, no city, and no house where they do not live. Worry is not bound by time. They are present in difficult hours, but they also darken the most beautiful moments. Nobody loves them. Everyone knows them.
But children of God need not worry about anything! Not a single hardship should weigh us down; not a single thought should torment us because we have a place to go where we can "un-worry" – with God. When worries arise in our hearts, we should, therefore, always turn them into a concern that we bring before God. "Throw it out with heaps ... And if it be vain sacks full of want. Throw it all out!" (M. Luther). Those who throw everything out in this way can enjoy what God wants to give us: His own peace.
God sits on His throne in complete peace. Nothing can shake the Sovereign; no event in the universe can make Him restless, and no one can frighten Him. The wonderful thing is that what applies to the great God in heaven should also be true for little people on earth. We should have peace! Even when the ship of life rocks precariously on the waves of trials, and the storm of testing blows relentlessly.
If we bring our worries to God, He gives us His peace. Truly a great exchange! Of course, circumstances don't change immediately when we have prayed. But we do change. After Hannah had poured out her bitter soul to God in the pain of childlessness, her face was no longer the same, and she went away in peace (1 Samuel 1:17, 18). This can also be your experience.
