Satan and Job’s friends thought that Job would follow God the way stray dogs trail after a man carrying bones. But they were wrong. He wanted to trust God, even if He would kill him (Job 13:15).

Which man finds it easier to trust God? The man who owns nothing anymore? Or the man who has everything available to him? It is certainly very hard, when you have lost everything, to place your trust and your hope in God. But isn’t it even harder to trust God when you lack nothing and have everything you need at your disposal? Surely it is. And that is why we should view abundance more skeptically than we currently do.
