Remaining in his love: The sunshine of Christ’s love

Jesus Christ

9Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; remain in My love.

– John 15:9

“Abide in my love.” John 15:9

A young woman lived in a room that was not very bright. Nevertheless, one of her sun-hungry flowers thrived magnificently. She explained it like this: “There are three windows in my room. When the sun rises in the morning, the flower is in the first window. At midday it goes in the second window and in the afternoon in the third. My flower is constantly in direct light and that’s why it blooms beautifully.”

If we want to grow spiritually and bring joy to our Lord, then we must constantly be in the sunshine of Christ’s love.

The Song of Songs provides an illustration of this, where the bride speaks of the love relationship in the morning, at midday, in the evening and even at night:

– In the morning, “Let us set out early for the vineyards … there I will give you my love” (Song of Songs 7:13).

– At noon: “Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where do you pasture, where do you camp at noon?” (Song of Solomon 1:7).

– Evening: “Until the day cools and the shadows flee, turn, be my beloved” (Song of Solomon 2:17).

– At night: “In my bed at night I seek him whom my soul loves” (Song of Solomon 3:1).

In this way, our hearts should always enjoy the love of the Savior – and reciprocate.
