Small Things – Great Impact

God uses small things to achieve a great impact. He uses what is inconspicuous to do something that will not be forgotten. There are many examples of this in Scripture:

• Moses’ shepherd’s staff became the decisive “instrument” in the deliverance of the people of Israel from Egypt (Exodus 4:3).

• Horns played a key role in an important victory of God’s people (Joshua 6:5).

• With an oxgoad, Shamgar became a deliverer of Israel (Judges 3:31).

• With trumpets, torches, and empty jars, Gideon achieved an impressive victory over the numerous Midianites (Judges 7:15–22).

• Samson used a donkey’s jawbone very successfully to strike down the enemies (Judges 15:15).

• A sling was enough for David to bring down the shining light among the Philistines—Goliath (1 Samuel 17:50).

Should we not take courage from these examples to use with confidence what we have? Yes, it may be very little and seem insignificant—but through God’s power, something great can come from it!
