"He taught them many things in parables."
In His mercy, God reveals His thoughts of love and wisdom in Scripture. We may not yet fully realize that He does this in many different ways. In addition to clear, direct speech, He uses figurative, symbolic forms to help us understand His thoughts and intentions. The examples of the Old Testament are an excellent illustration of this.
In this series, we aim to explore a very similar category of teachings in Scripture: the parables of the Lord in the Gospels. It seems to the author that God's children do not use this part of the Word of God enough. When He was on earth, the Lord Jesus often clothed His teachings in parables. The impactful phrase in Mark 4:2, "And He taught them many things in parables," highlights this clearly, just as careful reading and study of the Redeemer's words would generally do.
