The Bible carefully differentiates between sin and sins.
- Sin: the evil power at work in man that causes him to engage in sinful activities (Rom 7:17, 18). God pronounced judgment on this evil power and executed it on His own Son at Golgotha (Rom 8:3). NOTE: sin is judged, but not (yet) abolished.
- Sins: the individual sinful thoughts, words, and deeds arising from the evil source (see above) for which the Lord Jesus bore the judgment (1 Peter 2:23).
