Antichrist

The Antichrist is a person of the end times who takes the place of Christ and is also his great adversary. He (1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3; 2 John 7) is the "man of sin" (2 Thess. 2:3), who will appear in the end times as a seducing political authority (cf. Rev. 13:11-18). He will exalt himself, sit in the temple, and allow himself to be worshipped. The Jews will receive him as the Messiah (John 5:43). He is a Jew (Dan 11:37) and claims to be a king and prophet. He denies not only that Jesus is the Christ, but also the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22). The most detailed description is found in Revelation 13:11-17. Many will follow him (John 5:43). He will meet his end in the battle of Armageddon and be thrown into hell (Rev 19:20).
