Armageddon

It is the Hebrew name of the place where the kings of the earth will be gathered together to make war against the Lord Jesus in the great day of God the Almighty (Revelation 16:16). This battle will take place at the end of the tribulation period of seven years. There seems to be an allusion to the great battlefield of Megiddo mentioned in Judges and the books of 1 and 2 Kings. The word itself is translated as “the mountain of slaughter” and speaks symbolically of the destruction that will fall upon the enemies of the Lord Jesus (which is the armies of the Roman Prince and the Antichrist).
