Book of Life

The term “Book of Life” (sometimes just referred to as “the Book”) can mean different things depending on the context. On the one hand, it is a directory with the names of people who are referred to as “living.” A book that bears this name and is also simply called the Book of God probably contains all those who have only a name, a profession to live. Consequently, their names can be blotted out (Ex 32:32,33; Ps 69:29; Rev 3:5; 22:19). Another book is the Book of the Redeemed, from which no one will be blotted out (Phil 4:3; Rev 13:8; 17:8; 20:12.15; 21:27). This book is also called “the Book of Life of the Lamb who was slain”.
