Bosom

This expression is used symbolically for the seat of deep affection. For example, John speaks of the Lord Jesus as the only begotten Son “who is in the bosom of the Father” (John 1:18). The loving and holy relationship between husband and wife is also described with this expression (Deut 28:54, 56 “the wife/husband of his/her bosom”). The description of Lazarus being carried into the bosom of Abraham paints a similar picture (Lk 16:22, 23).
