Feast of unleavened bread

Seven-day festival that immediately followed the Passover (Feast of Redemption) (Lev 23:5.6). Special feature: only unleavened bread was allowed to be eaten during this week. Everything prepared with leaven had to be removed from the houses. Spiritual interpretation: as the redeemed, our lives should be free from "leaven," i.e., we should not tolerate anything evil in our (personal and communal) lives because it has a defiling effect – just as leaven imprints its "character" on the whole dough (cf. 1 Cor 5:6-8).
