Gleaning

Gleaning describes the agricultural custom of leaving fruit after the actual harvest of grain, wine, or similar as leftover. This puts poor people in a position to "glean," i.e., to "re-harvest" leftovers from the field that has already been harvested or fruit that has ripened later. God gives instructions to this effect in Lev 19:9-10 and 23:22).
