High Priest

In the OT, the high priest was the "head" of the priests. Aaron was the first to be appointed to this office. The letter to the Hebrews makes it clear that we are thinking here of Christ (Heb 8:1), about whom there is much to say (Heb 5:11). He is faithful and merciful (Heb 2:17, 18). He is great (Heb 4:14, 15) and glorified (Heb 5:1-10). He is eternal (Heb 7:11-25) and fitting (Heb 7:26-28). He is a ministering high priest (Heb 8:2-6) and is now in the sanctuary (Heb 9:11, 12).
