Pharisees

The Pharisees were a small but influential religious group at the time of the New Testament. They demanded a strict separation from the lifestyle and practices of the gentiles and saw themselves as representatives of the common people. That is why many people looked up to them and respected them. The Lord Jesus exposed the pious appearance of these people, whose words and deeds did not match.
