Prophet

A prophet is someone who receives a message from God and passes it on to a specific group in the Old Testament, very often Israel. Prophets are, therefore, in close contact with God. They often appear in ungodly times or times of decline and are supposed to call people to repentance, usually by announcing judgment. The Lord Jesus was the perfect prophet and the proclaimer of God's grace to a guilty world (Luke 14:15-24).
