Psalm

Psalm simply means "song." In the Old Testament, this word only occurs in connection with the Psalms of David and the Book of Psalms. Singers sang a psalm with instrumental accompaniment in praise of God. In the New Testament, this word occurs in 1 Corinthians 14:26, Ephesians 5:19, and Colossians 3:16. It is noteworthy that a hymn and not a psalm was sung at the institution of the Lord's Supper (Mark 14:26).
