Repentance

While remorse (Greek metamellomai) means to regret a previous act or behavior and to have a different way of thinking about it, Repentance (Greek metanoia) goes further than that: It also means a change of mind and includes conversion. With regard to the sinner, repentance involves recognizing one's sins and one's depraved state in the light of God (2 Pet 3:9) and giving oneself up before Him in order to henceforth live a life in the "opposite direction," a life for the glory of God. God leads sinners to repentance (Rom 2:4).
