Sanctification

Sanctification is the basic idea that something is set apart for God and belongs to Him (Gen 2:3; Ex 13:2). Since God Himself is holy and knows no sin, sanctification includes separation from evil. The believer is sanctified through the work of the cross and belongs to God (Heb 10:10), which is our position. In practice, it is a matter of putting it into effect and living holy, i.e., separating ourselves from evil (1 Thes 4:3). Position and practice must go hand in hand.
