Satan

The Bible introduces us to the great adversary of God in Rev 20:2 under four terms:

• Dragon
• Old Serpent
• Devil
• Satan

Under the term 'Satan,' the devil (who once was an angel that rebelled against God; cf. Is 14 and Ez 28) is presented in particular in his character as God's adversary, who wants to hinder the redeemed in their service for God and make them unfit (cf. Zech 3:1; 1 Thes 2:18). Satan will find his final judgment through God himself and be rendered harmless forever (Rom 16:20; Rev 20:10).
