Song of ascent

Psalms 120-134 each bear the title “Song of Ascent”. Because of the literal translation, many interpreters associate the songs of the steps with the Israelites going up to the temple. Other commentators interpret the Songs of the Ascents as prophetic statements about the future return of the people of Israel to God.
