Trial

A trial is a test of the authenticity, value, or durability of something. God uses trials in the lives of believers to test and confirm their faith and perseverance and to reveal Himself. An example of this is Abraham (Heb. 11:17-19). For the believer, trials are challenging and difficult but enrich him in the long term with regard to the knowledge of God and the steadfastness of faith (1 Peter 1:6-7; James 1:2-4, 12). Trials can come from God (aim: to prove faith (aim: proof of authenticity) for the glory of Him in whom faith is placed) or from Satan (aim: to tempt the believer to sin; James 1:13-15).
