Against the background of failure

Of you and the woman,

And of your offspring and her Descendant;

And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”

18And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

Christ comes into focus

When people have sinned and failed to live up to their responsibility, against this sad backdrop God turns our eyes to the one in whom all his promises are Yes and Amen: Christ.

When the priesthood under Eli and his sons had fallen into a terrible state, a man of God spoke of the raising up of a faithful priest, which finds its complete fulfillment in Christ. 1 Samuel 2:35.

When David, the first king of Israel chosen by God, looked back on his life, where there were many failures, he spoke of a righteous ruler who would rise like the sun over the earth. 2 Samuel 23:3-4.

God brings his son into focus and our eyes should follow him.

A silent glory: Christ was silent

Jesus spoke with unmatched authority—yet His silence was even more striking. Falsely accused and abused, He did not defend Himself, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy. In humble submission to the Father, His holy silence testifies powerfully and stirs adoration.

A difficult path
