The Armor of God
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10, 11)
In the New Testament, believers are often described as soldiers of Christ. Paul instructed Timothy to fight the good fight and the good fight of faith (1 Tim 1:18; 6:12). We must participate in tribulations as good soldiers of Jesus Christ (2 Tim 2:3), not using carnal weapons but those that are "mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of ChristA title of the Lord Jesus, which is also used as an epithet; Messiah (Hebrew) and Christ (Greek) mean "anointed one". The title refers to the fact that Jesus is... More" (2 Cor 10:4, 5). Soldiers must wear the armor in battle for their own protection. The whole armor of God is necessary if we want to overcome the enemy, because SatanThe Bible introduces us to the great adversary of God in Rev 20:2 under four terms: • Dragon • Old Serpent • Devil • Satan Under the term 'Satan,' the... More always attacks the unprotected areas. The Bible is the divine training manual that shows us the purpose and use of every weapon. It is called the word of truth (Eph 1:13), the word of righteousness (Heb 5:13), the gospel of peace (Acts 10:36; Eph 6:15), the word of faith (Rom 10:8), the gospel of salvation (Rom 1:16; Eph 1:13) and the word of God (Eph 6:17). In a certain sense, the whole armor of God also represents the Lord Jesus, the leader of our salvation. He is the truth (Jn 14:6), He is our righteousness (2 Cor 5:21) and He is our peace (Eph 2:14). He is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2), He is our salvation (Lk 2:30), and He is the Word of God (Jn 1:1). In Romans 13:14, Paul exhorts believers to "put on the Lord Jesus ChristA title of the Lord Jesus, which is also used as an epithet; Messiah (Hebrew) and Christ (Greek) mean "anointed one". The title refers to the fact that Jesus is... More". In Him we can gain the victory!
