The Holy Spirit on earth is the greatest and most fundamental characteristic of the Christian era. He lives inside the Church and inside every individual believer. Before we look at the various activities of the Holy Spirit, we need to anwer the question: Who or what is the Holy Spirit? A unpersonal power? Or more than that: a devine person? The answer matters a lot for our practical everyday life.

When a sinner comes to God the first time, he seeks forgiveness. It is only later that we learn that God has done much more. Justification is one of these things. When God justifies, he declares us as just. We have a complete new standing before Him.
