The Glory of God

God/Jesus Christ

6

1In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple.

Isaiah 6:1

5Then I said,

“Woe to me, for I am ruined!

Because I am a man of unclean lips,

And I live among a people of unclean lips;

For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of armies.”

Isaiah 6:5

7He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your guilt is taken away and atonement is made for your sin.”

Isaiah 6:7

8But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”

Luke 5:8

God Is Light and God Is Love

God is light, and He is love. As soon as God’s love shines into my heart, it draws me in. I cannot resist it. On the other hand, God’s light can fill me with fear. It speaks to my conscience. How could I walk with God, if I do not know this? Will He punish me for my sins, or not?

The Finished Work of Christ

The work by which the Lord Jesus bore my sins is perfectly finished. Because of this, God has exalted Him as man to His right hand. The work is completed. If I accept that for myself by faith, I can only be happy. But what gives me inner peace is this knowledge. God has accepted the work of Christ. He has given proof of this by raising Christ from the dead.

Rest Before God

God’s glory once filled us with fear. At that time, we were unfit for His holy presence. Today we may remain before God in complete peace. That is because Christ is at His right hand. We look at Him. In Him we see a finished, perfect work. With this awareness we come before God.

Glory as the Testimony of Forgiveness

The glory of God, which we may worship in Christ, is a testimony. It shows that the believer’s sins are blotted out once and for all. The Lord is in glory as our Savior. This is for all who accept His salvation. Through Him I now stand justified before God.

Eternal Triumph

Just think that He became man. Think that, in His love, He came into this world. For the believer, He has turned eternal judgment into eternal triumph. I speak of triumph. One day the believer will be like Christ: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our lowly condition into conformity with His glorious body, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself” (Philippians 3:21).

“Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.”
Luke 12:33
