Faithfulness - not successfulness!

Very interesting! Here, God is not looking for servants who bear much fruit, have much success to show, or are "doers." No, it's about faithful people. Those who are reliable, committed, devoted, and trustworthy in the tasks that the Lord places before them.

A brief thought on the reward we receive for faithfulness:

  • Faithfulness is rewarded more than success (Matt. 25:21, 23; 1 Cor. 4:2), and perseverance counts just as much (Luke 22:28).
  • It is not about the size of a gift that God has given to a believer, but about how it has been used (Matt. 25:14-30; Lk. 19:13-27).
  • It is not the type of service that counts, but the attitude of mind in which it is carried out (1 Kings 8:18; 2 Corinthians 8:12).
  • It is not the quantity that counts, but the quality (Matt. 10:42; Lk. 21:2).
  • What matters is not what others see but what God perceives (Matt. 6:1-18).
  • Ultimately, it is not about our evaluation of our ministry but about God's evaluation (Matt. 25:37-40).

Everyone may be encouraged to do what the Lord has given them to do faithfully. Faithful service - whether great or small - is richly rewarded!
